FAQs
Q – Why do you call it, “Hard To Find Props”? A – When I started this, I thought I would just rent the stuff I owned that was “hard to find” (a stereographoscope, great grandma’s ear trumpet, a photographer’s birdie – as in “watch the birdie” (it was an actual photographer’s tool, etc.) Then, I figured I should have a larger assortment of items to attract more customers, so I expanded. I know many of my items can be found at the other houses, but I do have unique items the others don’t carry.
Q - How can you rent for such low prices?
A - My overhead is MUCH lower. Also, at this time, I have just 1 employee – me! Occasionally, I get help from part-time assistants.
Q- How much can I save?
A – If I have the item you need, you’ll probably save from 25% – 70% on its rental, and it will usually be in better condition than other houses supply.
Q - How can you compete with the big prop warehouses?
A - I can’t and I never will. But keeping a smaller inventory allows for lower rental costs.
Q – Are your props practical (working)?
A – Almost every item is working like it was when it was manufactured. There are a few exceptions and that is detailed in each item's description. I use the terms “functional”, “fully functional” or I describe, specifically, what the item may, or may not do.
Q – Will you be adding items to the site?
A – Yes! I still own plenty more to add and I’m ALWAYS looking for more. I'm at approximately 500 items and still growing.
Q- Do you know what you’re doing in this business?
A – I’m figuring it out as I go. Feel free to offer advice.
Q- Can I get a closer look at an item? A – You can arrange to see almost any item by contacting me. Holding your curser over the larger picture on a page will allow you to magnify the image.
Q - Can I change or modify an item I have rented?
A – You may ask, but the answer is most likely, No! There may be some exceptions, so feel free to ask.
Q- Do customers really ask the questions on this page? A - No! But I’ll bet they/you are wondering about some of these things.
