Description

MSC117 - Made when science education toys were being pushed as the US & USSR entered into the Cold War. This set came with various chemicals and a small “harmless” sample of Uranium Ore. The Spinthariscope is used for observing nuclear disintegration (i.e. radioactivity). This entire set and the tube of Uranium Ore has been checked and emits no radiation - it is safe.  The uranium was probably "spent" over 50 years ago. Similar Chemistry sets – without the Atomic element -  were sold into the 60s. Not surprisingly, Chemcraft went out of business as fear of lawsuits grew. These "atomic" sets were only sold from 1950 -1955. Steel case - mostly complete set. Case is 21"x 14"x 3". 42" wide completely opened. Rental of case only, without contents, is $20.
